QUESTION EVERYTHING

America can be great, but we have to work for it - TOGETHER.
America can be great, but we have to work for it - TOGETHER.

Before I continue, I want to note some things about me right from the start.

  1. I am a Christian. Born again. I was also an atheist and then agnostic for several years, but always admiring and valuing Jesus' model of servant leadership.

  2. I am a womanist. Black women, like me, have been treated unfairly, brutalized, dehumanized, and disrespected by EVERYONE. Including other Black women. Regardless of the reality, I am and will always be rooting for us. Let's lift up and not drag down.

  3. I grew up in PG County, MD, lived in Los Angeles, and currently live in Baltimore City. Not the county. THE CITY (do you hear someone saying, "Betta ask somebody!"?)

Still one of my fave Wesley Snipes roles - To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar

I just read a quote from JD Vance that was in the incomparable Robert Reich's substack about the Trump administration's escalation of attacks against higher education.

vp (yes, it's on purpose ;-p) JD Vance (Yale Law 2013) has termed university professors “the enemy” and suggested using Victor Orban’s method for ending “left-wing domination of universities.”

I think his way has to be the model for us: not to eliminate universities, but to give them a choice between survival or taking a much less biased approach to teaching. [The government should be] aggressively reforming institutions … in a way to where they’re much more open to conservative ideas.”

I would drool at the chance to interview vp Vance. Heck, I'd do it at my alma mater, Washington and Lee University.

First off, I'd follow-up his comment about "biased approach to teaching" by asking if that's how Yale Law was for him? I'd ask him to describe what a "biased approach to teaching" looks like. vp Vance and his boss use such veiled language to describe things. NO. Stop. Say what you mean and let us in on the backstory. I need more journalists to do this work! Even you conservative journalists. Y'all are so mild with your questions. Then again, everyone is trying to protect their jobs. I get it but... WEAK.

People like the vp just need the right questions to expose the lunacy, immorality, and hypocrisy of their ideas.

My friends, if we learned anything from the great civil rights leaders like the late John Lewis, Dr. King, Malcolm X, Angela Davis, and so many countless others it's this: let the liars, swindlers, and inhumane show their true colors to the world. No one else can do justice to their grift like they can.

Onward and upward, fellow freedom fighters!

This post is dedicated to the late songstress, Roberta Flack.
